Pin-Less Debit (PLD)

Introduction

Pin-less debit, or PLD, is a new type of transaction with the potential of large savings for online payments. There is the
potential to save approximately 20% of credit card transactions by processing cards with credit-network branding (i.e.
Visa, Mastercard) through debit networks (i.e. Star, Nyce, Pulse) .

PLD has become available to you as an emerging market because:

  • Low fraud risk – If a student disputes a charge, you place a hold on their record. Punitive measures can be
    employed, such as registration holds.

  • Alternative for ATM cardholders- Offer an online payment method for customers who only have an ATM card (no
credit card association branding on the card)

Recharge Savings Potential

PLD is billed to you at a per-transaction cost of approximately $0.75/trans. To give you an idea of the savings you
might see on a $1,000 transaction:

CyberPay Credit -~2.0% +$0.24 = $20.24

CyberPay PLD - $0.75/trans = $0.75

Your savings on this transaction would have been $19.49.

This is only a sample transaction. Bank fees vary based on card type and processing requirements. Please see the current SFS rate sheet for the most current recharge rates.

How do I know if I qualify for PLD?

The CyberPay Support Team can determine whether your transactions qualify for PLD. Because the debit industry has very specific requirements, we can't offer PLD to all merchants.
